The 2022 pool season is over but we’re anxious for the 2023 season to begin! We have listed some general weekly balance tips to follow this upcoming season!
- Test your water
- Come into our store with a water sample to have our CPO-certified staff analyze your water.
- Check to make sure your calcium hardness is in the proper range.
- Calcium Hardness: 175-225
- Bioguard Balance Pak 300 is used to increase calcium hardness.
- There is no way to decrease the calcium hardness already found in your water. To prevent the calcium from falling out of solution and creating scale use Natural Chemistry Scale Free.
- Treat for metals in your water.
- Metals in your water can cause water discoloration and stain your liner.
- Add Unique to your water to aid your filters in grabbing the metals out of the water.
- Balance pH & Alkalinity if they are not in the proper range.
- pH: 7.2-7.8
- Alkalinity: 80-120
- Bioguard Lo ‘N Slo or Muriatic Acid are used to decrease your pH & Alkalinity.
- Bioguard Balance Pak 100 is used to increase Alkalinity.
- Bioguard Balance Pak 200 is used to increase pH.
- Prevent algae growth.
- Use Bioguard Algae Complete to prevent & kill algae.
- Oxidize your water
- Use shock to oxidize off combined chlorine, which is dead chlorine, in your water.
- Use 1 pound of shock per 10,000 gallons of water.
- Leave your pool cover off for 24 hours to allow for oxidation.
